Susanne Somers

Suzanne Somers has been on tv with her "Get Skinny on Fabulous Food" plan. It is based on not mixing proteins and carbs together (due to enzyme mixing). Food combining has been discussed by others over the years. Proteins and fats can be eaten together but not with carbs. Certain carbs are fine but not mixed with fats or proteins. There is also supposed to be a three hour gap between meals if you are going from carbs to proteins (or vice-versa). Somers also advises against having water with meals.

She does not agree with the low-fat , high carbohydrate approach and in fact says, "I got skinny on fat". Good fats are important but we need to cut out hydrogenated fats, sugar, white flour and chemicals. Some recipes include butter and sour cream which is often a no-no in other plans.

Suzanne discusses that thin hair, dry skin and brittle nails can be caused by having sugars instead instead of fats and proteins. She discusses hormonal balance and also goes into the glycemic index. According to her it's best to avoid food in the high glycemic category (ie 60-110) such as potatoes, pasta and breads. Fruit is allowed unlike other diets but is supposed to be eaten on an empty stomach.
