Progesterone Hormone In Early Pregnancy
Introduction
Progesterone hormones are produced in women's ovaries during the monthly menstrual cycle. The importance of the progesterone hormone in the body is essential for many reasons. The natural progesterone which is present in the female body controls the estrogen and its effects. Estrogen in turn is helpful in promoting the cell growth and the natural progesterone hormone helps in faster growth which is necessary and healthy. Every body needs a necessary and suitable amount of natural progesterone in one's body and a deficiency in this causes an imbalance in the estrogen. This is not a healthy sign as it is the cause for hormonal imbalance. The presence of the natural progesterone in one's body helps one's body from irregular menstrual flow, cramping, bloating, natural antidepressant, irritability, migraine headaches, insomnia, hot flashes, stimulates new bone formation.
Effect of the Progesterone Hormone in early pregnancy
The third trimester of pregnancy the female placenta produces around 300-400 mg of natural progesterone each day. The progesterone hormones which are produced primarily in the ovaries in the first trimester and later this production of progesterone are taken up by the placenta that affects the progesterone levels in pregnancy. There is an importance of the Progesterone hormone during pregnancy as it effects the growth and development of the baby. The other positive effect the progesterone hormone is it helps the uterus from contracting and aids the growth of blood vessels which provide proper nourishment to the baby during pregnancy. The necessary levels of the progesterone hormone during pregnancy are helpful for a healthy pregnancy. During the early pregnancy the levels of progesterone rises as much as 10-15 times which is important for protecting the fetus. The Progesterone Hormone is supposed to be the natural anti depressant. This hormone reduces after delivery and thus causes a post partum depression in women since placenta which is the major source of natural progesterone is lost after delivery. The women who want to become pregnant should have enough amount of progesterone since this hormone is responsible to prepare the uterine wall for the implantation of the fertilized egg. The low levels of progesterone in the early pregnancy may result in loss of embryo.
Conclusion:
This hormone has an important role in maintaining pregnancy during the early months of pregnancy. The low levels of progesterone hormone can be treated by the natural progesterone supplementation which has beneficial effects and these have no side effects.
