Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity is a growing problem in the United States and some attribute it to the hours kids spend in front of the television or computer munching and not getting enough exercise.
It helps to purchase and stock the home with healthy snacks and fruits rather than lots of sweet foods, juices , sodas and foods that are high in sugar and fat.
Keep in mind childhood obesity isn't just an appearance issue but it has to do with habits the child is forming that can be hard to break due to habit. Also the incidence of diabetes, heart issues and other risks are important to study.
The "Making it Happen" program has been implemented in a number of schools around the United States and has many success stories based on the school's implementation of healthful nutritional strategies.
If your child isn't involved in sports activities then adding in exercise through household chores, a park outing or walking to town to do an errand can be a way to get him or her to be more active.
